Community Life

CACI offers solutions which help prevent isolation through the discovery of the host society.

Our outings are intended for newly arrived families who wish to discover the province of Quebec as well as its customs and traditions.

  • Reduced fares
  • Limited number of places
  • Several annual outings:

Sugar shack

Each spring, discover a typical Quebec tradition: the sugar shack. Served at will traditional food (omelette, potatoes, beans with bacon, crispy pork rings, sugar pie… all drizzled with maple syrup) and a guaranteed typical atmosphere (maple taffy, games, folk dances and sleigh rides)!

Apple picking

A visit to an orchard, a wide variety of apples waiting to be picked up, a small animal farm which will make kids happy, a picnic area, shops proposing a wide range of apple-based delights.

Outings

One-day outings to discover Quebec: Quebec city, Ottawa, a water park, a zoo, Mont-Tremblant village and mountains, etc.

Christmas party

Each year, CACI organizes a super party for about 500 newcomers. In a beautifully decorated room, parents and children eat, dance and take part in fun activities. A festive atmosphere, music and human warmth are waiting for you. The climax: the arrival of Santa Claus who distributes gifts to children under 10.

Our daycare is available to children aged between 2 and 5 whose parents take part in programs organized by CACI.

The educational program is specially designed for children who do not speak French.

Opening hours: from Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

The daycare is also opened to all at unusual hours:

Morning: from 6:30 to 9:00 am

Evening, from 18:30 to 21:30

On Saturday and Sunday: from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Please call us for details and rates.

Each summer, between June and August, CACI offers a day summer camp to children living in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough.

CACI is one of the founding members of the Comité interculturel Bordeaux-Cartierville. The Comité interculturel was created in 2012 under the leadership of local stakeholders to respond to the multicultural reality of one of the most multiethnic neighborhoods of Montreal.

Mission:

  • Foster the participation and integration of communities of diverse origins in Quebec society
  • Create spaces for dialogue to promote diversity and intercultural rapprochement in everyday life
  • Promote actions to fight against stereotypes, discrimination, racism, intolerance and exclusion
  • Give intercultural trainings to stakeholders from various backgrounds

Since its foundation, the committee has benefitted from CACI’s logistical support.

Founding members:

  • Ms Anait Aleksanian, CEO of CACI
  • Mr Donald Boisvert, CEO of La Corbeille
  • Ms Éliane Gabbay, partnership advisor to the Ministry of Immigration, Francization and Integration
  • Ms Pauline Errico, director of Maison de la Famille
  • Ms Gigi Vidal, member of the Bahá’í community
  • Sister Pierrette Bertrand of the Congregation of Franciscan Oblates
  • Ms Renée Viaud, neighborhood citizen
  • Ms Nayiri Tavlian, neighborhood citizen

CACI integration advisors are sometimes called upon to perform intercultural mediation in schools. As part of their mission, they often act as interpreters and mediators between the families of newcomers (parents and children) and the school managers when misunderstandings or conflicts arise.
