Intercultural Twinning

Dare to live an enriching human experience!

Intercultural twinning consists in the meeting and the forming of a bond between a newcomer and a member of Quebec society.

What Is Intercultural Twinning?

Whether you are a native Quebecer or have just set foot in the province, intercultural twinning is for you! Take this opportunity share your perspective on life in Quebec, life in the newcomer twin’s country of origin, cultural similarities and differences, among other topics.

This service is offered as part of the Integration Support and Assistance Programme (PASI) of the Ministry of Immigration, Francization and Integration (MIFI).

  • Practice a foreign language
  • Learn about a new culture
  • Actively participate in the integration of an immigrant
  • Learn from the life experience, values and culture of your twin
  • Develop a friendly relationship
  • Gain a better understanding of the challenges of immigrating to a new country

During the twinning, you will have the chance to:

  • Participate in activities organized by the CACI
  • Take part in sports activities (skating, skiing, hiking, etc.)
  • Discover new places in the city
  • Cook together at one or the other’s home
  • Take part in different and affordable outings: have coffee, attend a festival, go to the cinema, etc.
  • Accompany the newcomer to the grocery store, show him or her how to get around the city, etc.

How Does It Work?

Once you register, you will be put on a waiting list.

  1. Once we find your twin, we will communicate with you in order to schedule a first meeting.
  2. The first meeting takes place in the presence of the project manager. After that, the twins decide how often they meet and the kind of activity they partake in.
  3. We recommend that you organize activities once or twice a month. You will be free to organise activities that interest you or follow a suggested schedule.
  4. For the duration of the twinning, we will carry out follow-ups with the participants in order to make sure that the twinning is going well.
  5. At the end of the twinning or after 6 months, we will send you an evaluation in order to help us improve the program and to gather your comments.

You will be free to continue to build your new friendship if you feel so inspired.

Are You Interested?

The first thing to do is to contact the person in charge: Paula Valencia or Alejandra Pena.

He will gladly provide more information regarding the twinning and will ask you to fill out a form in order to better know your profile (hobbies, availabilities, etc.).

Don’t hesitate to let us know if you have questions or concerns; it will be possible to end the twinning if you experience problems.

Raising Awareness of Psychological and Sexual Harassment in the Workplace

As part of the project entitled “Harcèlement en milieu de travail, Connaître, Prévenir, Agir” (“Workplace Harassment : Knowledge, Prevention, Action”) carried out with the financial support of the CNESST (Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail), the CACI has the mandate to raise awareness among immigrants who are working or looking for work of psychological and sexual harassment in the workplace.

Using advertisements, individual meetings and group workshops, the CACI explains how to recognize a psychological or sexual harassment situation in the workplace, the employer’s obligations and the possible remedies for victims of harassment.
