What Is Objective Integration (OI)?
Delivered in an interactive and participatory format, these information sessions cover essential topics such as democratic values, citizens’ rights and responsibilities, how the labour market works, public services, and everyday life in Quebec.
These sessions provide an excellent opportunity to ask questions, connect with other newcomers, and gain practical knowledge to support a smoother settlement and integration process.
By participating in Objective Integration (OI), you will develop a better understanding of your new living environment and acquire practical tools to help you integrate confidently into Quebec society.
Is Objective Integration (OI) Mandatory?
In addition, the certificate of completion obtained through the program, or the online test, is mandatory for all Quebec economic immigration programs leading to permanent residence.
It is required by the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration (MIFI) to obtain your Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ).
Overview of the Objective Integration (OI) Session
A 24-hour session consisting of three sections to learn more about the host society:
- Section 1: Diversity and adaptation in Quebec,
- Section 2: Five keys to better understanding Quebec
- Section 3: The world of work in Quebec.
Participation Allowance of $230
The Objective Integration (OI) session is completely free of charge for eligible participants. It is offered by organizations that partner with the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration (MIFI), such as CACI.
In addition, individuals who meet the eligibility requirements and attend the entire session may receive a participation allowance of $230.
Check Your Eligibility
You must be 18 years of age or older.
You must have an intermediate level of French to participate in the session.
Immigrants must reside in Quebec to register and participate in the Objectif Intégration session.
You must be in one of the following situations:
- You are a naturalised Canadian citizen;
- You are a permanent resident of Canada;
- You are a temporary resident and hold a permit issued with a view to the eventual granting of permanent residence or a permit from the Minister of Immigration, Francization and Integration;
- You are a person authorised to submit an application for permanent residence in Canada;
- You are in Quebec as a temporary worker for one or more consecutive periods of one year or more;
- You are a foreign student in Quebec for a period of more than six months;
- You are a protected person in Canada (who has been granted asylum);
- You hold a tourist visa and have received an invitation from the Ministry of Immigration, Francization and Integration to apply for permanent selection.

The Objective Integration (OI) session helps newcomers gain a better understanding of Quebec society and supports a smoother settlement process.
It covers Quebec’s values, rights and responsibilities, the labour market, and the services and resources available to newcomers. It is an excellent opportunity to gain essential knowledge, ask questions, and build a strong foundation for successful integration into Quebec society.
Yes, you may receive a participation allowance if:
- You attend the entire session;
- You meet the eligibility requirements;
- You have a valid NAS, IIN (Individual Identification Number), or TIN (Temporary Identification Number).
This $230 allowance is paid once per participant and is taxable. CACI advisors can assist you with the process of applying for the participation allowance.
The first day is mandatory. If you are absent on the first day, you will not be able to continue the session and will need to register for a future cohort.
For the remaining days, it is generally possible to make up missed hours during a later session.
In all cases, you must complete the entire training program to receive your certificate of completion and the $230 participation allowance, if you are eligible.
Yes, the certificate is valid for a CSQ application. Since January 1, 2020, you must demonstrate your knowledge of democratic values and Quebec values as expressed in the Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms when submitting an immigration application.
Family members accompanying you must also demonstrate their knowledge of Quebec values.
This certificate is recognized by the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration (MIFI) and remains valid for two years.
The session consists of 24 hours of training delivered over several days.
