Valorisation and promotion projects

The latest project, which is sponsored by the Office québécois de la langue française as part of the “Le français, au cœur de nos ambitions” program, consists in visiting retailers located in identified streets and distributing information regarding the legal display of their trademarks. The CACI’s role is to visit merchants installed on identified arteries, to disseminate information and tools that enable them to comply with government regulations on the display of trademarks and to carry out post-visit follow-up. Indeed, the report on the evolution of the linguistic situation in Quebec (dated April 2019) revealed that there were still issues with the public display of businesses. Companies had to comply with the regulation on trademark display – which was adopted in 2016 – before November 24, 2019. However, many companies located in identified boroughs such as rue St-Denis, boulevard St-Laurent, rue Rachel, avenue Duluth, rue Fleury Est, avenue Papineau, rue Jarry, as well as Chabanel and Marché Central were not aware of the regulation and its legal implications.

As part of two projects financed by the Ministry of Culture and Communications, CACI has designed and developed online interactive games about French expressions used in Quebec. Test your knowledge!
