RAMQ Registration: How CACI Can Support You Through the Process

Would you like to register with RAMQ and are not sure where to start? Whether you are a temporary foreign worker, international student, temporary resident, permanent immigration applicant, permanent resident, or asylum seeker, administrative procedures can sometimes seem complex.

What Is a Health Insurance Card Used For?

The Health Insurance Card (often called the “RAMQ card” for the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec) allows you to:

  • Consult a doctor in the public healthcare system;
  • Receive hospital care;
  • Access many other healthcare services covered by the public plan.

Please bring the following documents with you during your visit:

  • Confirmation of Permanent Residence or Permanent Resident Card, if applicable;
  • Citizenship Certificate, if applicable;
  • Work Permit (excluding Case Type 28), if applicable;
  • Study Permit, if applicable;
  • CSQ, if applicable
  • Photo identification.
