Permanent Residence - Sponsorship
Please bring the following documents with you during your visit:
- Proof of status (permanent residence card or citizenship certificate)
- Passport of husband/wife/children
- Birth certificate of husband/wife/children
- Marriage certificate
- Divorce certificate, if applicable
- Criminal record/police certificate of husband/wife
- Identity photo of spouse/children
- Other documents will be requested depending on your situation
Permanent Residence - Skilled worker selected by Quebec
Please bring the following documents with you during your visit:
- Valid passport
- Valid CSQ
- Birth certificate
- Criminal record/police certificate
- Identity photo
- Marriage certificate, if applicable
Permanent Residence - Protected Person
Please bring the following documents with you during your visit:
- Notice of decision
- Identity photo (Canadian passport size)
- Photocopy of passport and birth certificate, if applicable
Renewal of Residence Card
Please bring the following documents with you during your visit:
- Old residence card, valid or expired
- Valid passport or passport with immigration visa

What Is the Difference Between a CSQ and Permanent Residence?
The CSQ (Quebec Selection Certificate) and Permanent Residence (PR) are two separate steps in Quebec’s immigration process.
- CSQ (Quebec Selection Certificate): A document issued by the Government of Quebec confirming that the province has selected you as an immigration candidate. The CSQ does not grant permanent resident status. It allows you to proceed to the next step.
- Permanent Residence (PR): After obtaining a CSQ, you must submit an application to the federal government (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada). The Government of Canada conducts medical, security, and background checks. If your application is approved, you become a permanent resident of Canada. [caci-bc.org]
