What Is a SIN?
In Canada, SIN stands for Social Insurance Number. It is a unique 9-digit number used to identify you with the government for employment, taxes, and certain programs and benefits.You need a SIN to:
Work legally in Canada;- File an income tax return;
- eceive certain government benefits (Employment Insurance, pensions, etc.).
Please bring the following documents with you during your visit:
- A primary identity document proving your legal status in Canada;
