Have Your Foreign Education Credentials Recognized in Quebec
Comparative Evaluation: How CACI Can Support You Through the Process
Would you like to apply for a comparative evaluation and are not sure where to start? Whether you are a temporary foreign worker, international student, temporary resident, permanent immigration applicant, permanent resident, or asylum seeker, administrative procedures can sometimes seem complex.
CACI supports immigrants through every stage of their settlement and integration journey in Quebec.
Why Should I Apply for a Comparative Evaluation of My Diplomas?
A comparative evaluation of studies completed outside Quebec compares a diploma obtained abroad with Quebec education levels. It is issued by the Quebec government through the Ministry of Immigration, Francization and Integration (MIFI).
It is not mandatory, but it can be useful for several reasons:
- Job search: some Quebec employers use it to better understand how your foreign diploma compares to Quebec education levels.
- Professional licensing or career advancement: some regulated professions may require recognition of your studies, in addition to other requirements.
- Continuing your education: an educational institution may request information about your previous studies.
- Supporting certain immigration or professional integration procedures, depending on the program or organization involved.
Please note:
- A comparative evaluation is not a diploma equivalency and does not automatically grant the right to practice a regulated profession.
- It does not replace recognition by a professional order (for example, engineer, nurse, physician, etc.).
- It mainly provides a comparison with Quebec education levels (for example: “Bachelor’s degree comparable to a Quebec bachelor’s degree”). [caci-bc.org]
